Sponsored Child Eligibility:

Definition of a Dependent Child:

The child must be under 22 years old and not have a spouse or common-law partner.

Over 22 Years Old: If the child is 22 or older, they must have been continuously studying since before the age of 22, and they have been financially dependent on their parents due to their studies. This includes students who are pursuing their post-secondary education.

Medical and Disability Exceptions:

Children who are 22 years old or older and have depended substantially on the financial support of their parents since before turning 22 due to a physical or mental condition also qualify as dependent.

Relationship Proof:

The child must either be the biological child of the sponsor (and not adopted by someone else) or the adopted child of the sponsor.
